At the B2 level of English proficiency, learners aim to achieve greater fluency and accuracy in using the language.
- Listening: They understand extended speech and lectures, and follow complex lines of argument on familiar topics. They comprehend most TV news, current affairs programs, and films in standard dialect.
- Speaking: They engage in extended conversations on a wide range of topics, express and justify opinions, and present clear, detailed descriptions on various subjects. They participate actively in discussions and argue a case effectively.
- Reading: They read and understand articles and reports concerned with contemporary issues, in which the writers adopt particular attitudes or viewpoints. They understand contemporary literary prose.
- Writing: They write clear, detailed paragraphs on a variety of subjects related to personal interests, convey information, or argue a point of view, and they write letters that highlight the significance of events and experiences.
- Grammar and Vocabulary: They use a wide range of vocabulary and complex sentence structures effectively. They understand and apply advanced grammar, including passive voice, relative clauses, conditionals, and reported speech.
- Culture and Communication: They develop deeper cultural awareness by exploring social, professional, and academic practices in English-speaking countries. They adapt language use and register appropriately for different contexts and audiences.
These objectives are designed to help learners communicate confidently and fluently in diverse situations, preparing them for advanced levels of English proficiency.
